Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has revealed that he is working with Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa in efforts to challenge President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election.
Gachagua, who leads the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), said the four leaders had agreed to work together towards the next presidential contest, signalling ongoing efforts to consolidate opposition forces ahead of the polls.
Speaking during a political address at Kĩrĩrĩmbĩ, Gachagua named the three leaders as some of the politicians involved in the discussions aimed at challenging Ruto's re-election bid.
“Niĩ na Kalonzo Musyoka na Sifuna na Eugene Wamalwa nĩtũiganĩtie gũkahũrana na Ruto 2027,” Gachagua said.
The statement points to continued political consultations among opposition figures as they explore possible cooperation ahead of the 2027 elections.
Kalonzo, Sifuna and Wamalwa have featured in opposition engagements alongside other leaders seeking to establish a common political platform against the Kenya Kwanza administration.
Gachagua's remarks also place the DCP leader at the centre of discussions surrounding the formation of a possible opposition alliance, with the question of coalition leadership, presidential candidature and power-sharing arrangements likely to feature in subsequent negotiations.
